Kenny Adamski - Drums and leader of the T.K.O. band. Kenny was raised
on Polka music. His Father, Lenny, headed the Lenny Adams and the Polka
Stars Band in Baltimore for many years, and was truly a pioneer in the
Baltimore Polka music scene. Kenny's musical career began in 1970, at the
impressionable age of 10, with the guitar. He found that the guitar was
simply not loud enough, and decided to play the bass guitar for a year.
Since the bass guitar did not satisfy his need for volume, Kenny convinced
his Dad to purchase a set of drums for him. Unfortunately, it drove his Mom,
Marion, crazy! After a few years of practice, Kenny got his first break and
began to play with his Dad's band in 1977, at the age of 16. Lenny Adams and
the Polka Stars played many well-known local venues throughout Baltimore,
such as the Polish Home in Curtis Bay, the Polish Home in Fells Point, the 3
8's hall on Montford Avenue, and many others too numerous to mention in this
biography. The band continued their success, eventually growing in size in
1979 to 8 pieces, including musicians from the US Naval Academy in
Annapolis, Maryland, receiving much local notoriety along the way.
Additionally, the band recorded a few albums along the way, most notably a
local favorite, "Polish Wedding," which preserved both old fashioned Polish
wedding customs, and the unique sound of the band.
In 1980, Lenny Adams took ill with cancer, and for the first time, Lenny,
Jr., and Kenny were given the responsibility to lead the Lenny Adams and the
Polka Stars Band, and maintain the family tradition. With the passing of
Lenny, Sr. in 1982, Kenny took over the reigns and started fresh with a new
band, Class Act. Class Act continued for a few years, eventually evolving
into the TKO Band, Ken's current project. Over the past few years, the band
has featured some of the most prominent musicians in the East Coast Polka
scene, eventually leading to its current members on the CD, "Another Round."
Kenny has been the driving force behind TKO's longetivity, promoting the
band to musicians and fans alike. He continues to be the beat behind the
music, playing drums on the CD, and providing all the legwork necessary in
producing the new CD. He also leads the band, providing all technical and
administrative support to keep TKO working, and keeping the fans updated on
all appearances.
Kenny resides in Baltimore with his most lovely wife, Janet.

Jim DiBlasio, (stage name: Jimmy D-skio) - Bass, guitar & vocals
Jim's lve for music started back in the fifth grade. His interest then
was learning the trumpet. He became involved with the trombone, bass fiddle
and guitar. His talent and quick learning ability allowed him to play in all
of the school bands. At the age of 15, Jim spent one summer gigging with a
local quartet in the Baltimore area, (Lenny & his juniors). Then in 1977 he
went onto joining the US Army as an active soldier for four years, becoming
a certified automotive technician, that led him to his present job. Still
active in the music field, Jim succeeded in mastering the Yamaha folk
guitar. Jim had one year before he was discharged from the military, when
he met and fell in love with his lovely wife, Debbie. Now married for 17
years with two lovely children, Tim and Elizabeth. Following in their Dad's
footsteps; Tim loves to listen to some of his favorite CDs and will try to
copy the drummer's every beat. Meanwhile, Elizabeth started on the piano,
but has turned her interest towards the flute.
Jim has dedicated most of his playing time on the guitar, but decided to
go with the beat of things, (Elec Bass), not just a 4 string bass, but a G &
L.5 string. Jim wants to be in the steady groove of life. He uses this as
his primary axe. Jim studied Jazz Bass, which helped him to perform with
some of the local bands in the Baltimore/Washington area. Jim also adds to
the present band his vocal ability with the Country/ Blues and rock tunes.
Jim performed his first job with T.K.O. in September of 2000. He was not
familiar with the band's library of songs; but it only took him one month to
learn them. He will learn a new tune and will not stop until he has mastered
it to be performed live on stage. When not working his present job, or
performing on stage, you will find Jim spending his spare time banging away
on his remo drum set. Jim's steady and solid drive, along with his
lead/harmony vocal ability has taken him to one of his long fulfilled dreams
in his life. Finally, performing in a versatile group, with a great bunch of
dedicated musicians who are on the same page and enjoy music as a hobby.
But, most of all, for such an appreciative audience that really enjoys a
good variety of music. |
